Automotive service franchisor Tint World has teamed up with Alchemy, a manufacturer based in Kitchener, Ont., to offer installations of ExoShield nanotechnology-based windshield protection films to its customers.
As new features like advanced driver-assistance systems (ADASs) and head-up displays (HUDs) are embedded in automotive windshield glass, they drive up the costs of replacements, making protective measures more attractive to drivers. ExoShield is a thin, transparent film that is applied like window tint, but reportedly increases impact resistance up to six times industry standards, while also blocking 99.9 per cent of harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.
“This partnership will make ExoShield accessible to a larger market,” says Khanjan Desai, Alchemy’s CEO, who co-founded the business in 2013 with a group of nanotechnology engineering graduates from Ontario’s University of Waterloo. “It demonstrates the experts in the automotive aftermarket believe in our product.”
