Franchisee Paul Toth co-owns the location with Bryan Schaefer, who opened the other Calgary franchise one year ago. Toth was inspired by the system’s success with students.
“My son had been in school band classes for years, but after two weeks at School of Rock, he transformed into an elite drummer who couldn’t wait to go to class each week,” says Toth. “I had known about School of Rock for a while, but after Bryan opened his location, I wanted to get in on the excitement as soon as possible.”
With School of Rock, students of all ages develop musical skills on a variety of instruments, including guitar, vocals, bass, drums and keyboard. Instructors teach musical theory and rock ‘n’ roll tunes with a performance-based approach, which helps boost children’s confidence and gives them a large repertoire.
At the new franchise’s grand opening event on Oct. 14, attendees will enjoy live music demonstrations from School of Rock house bands, a ceremonial guitar smash, special offers, trial lessons, prizes, food and games.
