For Peter Carvalho, there were plenty of reasons for him to get into the franchising game, more specifically as JUSTJUNK’s latest franchisee in Victoria, B.C.
“Company wise; their online system and residential friendliness is what really attracted my attention,” Carvalho told Canadian Business Franchise. “It’s the simplicity of it. You can understand what we’re all about and book online without really speaking to anyone.”
On top of that, Carvalho also wants to play a part in recycling and cleaning up Victoria, something he believes “is lacking.”
“We’re really pleased to give residents and businesses in the Victoria area a new option to help manage clean ups and get their homes and commercial properties in order,” he said.
Based in St. Catharines, Ont., and with 1200 franchises across the country, JUSTJUNK removes unwanted materials/items from residential and commercial properties, including household junk, furniture, appliances, hot tubs, pianos, and construction and demolition debris.
The brand’s crews help ensure as much of the material they collect is recycled or donated to charitable organizations for re-use, helping to divert waste from landfills.
JUSTJUNK’s pricing rates include all labour, loading of the materials from anywhere on the property, clean up, and all disposal or recycling fees. Customers are provided with an up-front, written estimate before any work begins.
Carvalho said the junk removal industry has been a very stable one throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and there are a lot of “competitive companies” out there.
Right now, he is focused on building a customer base and getting his name out into the community, through social media and online marketing, while also handing out fliers.
