Thai Express is constantly looking for development opportunities in all provinces as they have regional leaders tasked at finding these opportunities locally and sourcing top franchisee candidates to take ownership of them.
In addition to providing delicious meals to its customer base, the company is also heavily engaged in the communities it serves. As part of its ongoing efforts to support the environment, Thai Express has been partnered with One Tree Planted since 2018 to help fund its re-forestation efforts across Canada. Thai Express has committed to offsetting its carbon footprint when it comes to packaging and promotional paper usage and donated to One Tree Planted for tree planting initiatives in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec, and they are also looking to fund additional projects in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in the coming year.
Pivoting to deal with the new normal
The current pandemic has positioned Thai Express to re-focus efforts in offering clients safer and more convenient means to order. The online ordering platforms on thaiexpress.ca and the BonApp application have seen greater adoption this year as they offer a contactless method of pre-ordering and pick-up for all locations.
Many street locations have also integrated curbside pick-up through these channels as everyone strives to find new normalcy with safer ways to enjoy the comfort of their favourite food. All this is linked to Thai Express’ rewards platform ThaiHigh5 that offers members free menu items escalating in value after every five meals they purchase along with collecting MTY Rewards Points from participating MTY brands which provides members a number of restaurants from which they can collect points.
Looking to the future
For Thai Express, 2020 was promising to be a record year as the brand was off to a strong start as one of the leaders in sales in the MTY portfolio. Unfortunately, the rapid emergence of COVID-19 drastically changed the outlook of the entire foodservice landscape for the remainder of the year and the foreseeable future. Thai Express is still committed to expansion and projects to continue this upward trend once the restaurant economy can re-align itself and build upon its strong bases in Ontario and Quebec with further expansion in the Western and Atlantic provinces.
