McDonald’s Canada celebrates 50th anniversary of Big Mac

McDonald’s Canada is bringing back the Big Mac Bacon for a limited time to celebrate the popular hamburger’s 50th anniversary.

Advertisements featuring fashion models and a mysterious date popped up across Canada and were updated this week to reveal the Big Mac Bacon has returned to the menu.

“We wanted to showcase the Big Mac in a modern and relevant way by integrating it into pop culture, while at the same time not taking ourselves too seriously,” says Antoinette Benoit, McDonald’s Canada’s chief marketing officer (CMO). “We took inspiration from how a fashion company might launch an exclusive collection.”

The Big Mac was invented by Jim Delligatti in Pittsburgh, Penn., and has been served in Canada and the U.S. since 1968.
