A&W Food Services of Canada has become the first national burger chain to add the plant-based Beyond Meat Burger, which has quickly earned wide buzz and rave reviews, to its menu. Starting today, the new item is available at all A&W franchises across the country.
Developed in Los Angeles, Calif., to satisfy burger lovers’ tastes, the Beyond Meat Burger (pictured) is made from protein-rich pulse crops, including peas and mung beans, to which A&W is adding its ‘classic build’ of lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.
“When we tried it, we were amazed how great it tasted and knew we had to bring it to Canadians,” says Susan Senecal, A&W Canada’s president and CEO. “This is the fastest new product launch in our history.”
