Restaurant franchisor FDF Brandz has acquired Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria, adding approximately 30 restaurants to its portfolio.
FDF, which owns Ricky’s All Day Grill, Ricky’s Country, Ricky’s Café and Fatburger Canada, plans to double the number of Famoso restaurants in Canada and expand in the U.S., U.K., Australia, China, India and the Middle East over the next five years.
“We are delighted to bring the popular Famoso chain into the fold and welcome the franchisees of these neighbourhood pizzerias, which are known for using authentic ingredients and processes to create flavourful Neapolitan pizzas,” says Frank Di Bennedetto, CEO of FDF Brandz. “This is a great fit as it allows us to add a new segment to our growing restaurant portfolio, with Ricky’s covering family casual, Fatburger in the premium burger fast-casual category and now Famoso representing the premium casual pizzeria and bar segment.”
Going forward, FDF plans to introduce a smaller takeout concept, Famoso Pronto, which will be 1,250 square feet, with seating for 24. Regular restaurants are 2,500 square feet.
