Over four years, the donation will go toward CHCA programs, facility enhancements and expansion.
Since 2013, Joey has helped George Brown students enrolled in CHCA programs enter the restaurant sector through scholarships, paid co-op programs and employment opportunities. Today, more than 100 of the school’s students and alumni are employed at Joey restaurants.
“George Brown’s faculty and staff believe in teaching their students those important hands-on skills we find most valuable in the staff we hire,” says Rupert Martin, vice-president (VP) of eastern culinary operations at Joey.
“Career information sessions and restaurant tours provided by Joey enable our students to understand how their education directly relates to their intended careers and the kind of commitment that is necessary,” says the CHCA’s dean, Lorraine Trotter. “We are grateful to Joey for their continued engagement and support.”
