Jugo Juice, a Canadian smoothie franchise system, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the launch of three cold-brew coffee and three matcha tea smoothies, which form the new ‘energy’ category of its menu.
Founded in Calgary in 1998, Jugo Juice now has 140 locations across the country and serves juices and smoothies with no added sugars or artificial ingredients. The six energy menu beverages are designed to provide a healthier alternative to traditional caffeine-based drinks.
The cold-brew smoothies, for example, offer lower acidity than coffee and provide antioxidants, phytochemicals and chlorogenic acids to support healthy blood sugar levels. Matcha, meanwhile, boosts energy with catechin, antioxidants and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).
“No one should have to sacrifice taste for health when they need an extra energy kick,” says Jamie Vadori, Jugo Juice’s director of marketing.
