KFC Canada has announced its voice-activated skill available through any Alexa-enabled Amazon device.
KFC worked with Amazon Web Services Inc., (AWS) to use Amazon Polly, an artificial intelligence (AI) service that turns text into lifelike speech using advanced deep-learning technologies, to re-create the voice of KFC’s founder, Col. Harland Sanders. The company is the first global quick-service restaurant (QSR) to use this text-to-speech technology from AWS to provide customers with a unique ordering experience.
“We are excited to be one of the first brands to adopt this service to create a seamless and distinct experience for our fans,” said the company’s marketing director, Jason Cassidy. “This new skill makes ordering your favourite menu items easy and fun.”
Customers can access this service by:
- Searching KFC in the Alexa skills store or app and enabling the expertise.
- Clients can reorder former menu selections by saying “Alexa, ask KFC Canada to reorder.”
- By saying “Alexa, talk chicken to me,” one can access games and test their poultry knowledge.
The franchise previously launched Chicken Talk in 2017, which saw Alexa provide consumers chicken jokes and thoughts, poultry pick-up lines, and a colonel quiz.
