KFC Canada recently tested its plant-based chicken options.
The menu options, which included meatless chicken (sandwiches and popcorn), were made possible through a partnership with Lightlife. The food items debuted during a limited trial period at Mississauga, Ont., in November.
“We believe the Colonel’s famous finger lickin’ good taste should have no boundaries,” said the company’s chief marketing officer, Sam Redman. “So we’ve created several options for Canadians looking for a meat-free meal.”
During the trial, the sandwich (available in regular or spicy flavours) was available for $6.99 or in a meal for $8.99; the popcorn chicken bucket could be purchased for $3.99. Alternatively, guests could try both options for $10.99.
