Canadian recreational cannabis franchise system Spiritleaf has opened new stores in Sherwood Park and Spruce Grove, Alta.
Its franchisees have begun construction on four additional stores in the province and are waiting for final approval for a space in Kelowna, B.C.
“We are working on our growth plan by opening additional locations and obtaining more licences; we will soon have 46 stores open,” said the company’s president and CEO, Darren Bondar. “We’re pleased with our success and will be pursuing further expansion in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. With the Ontario and Saskatchewan governments announcing their transition to an open licensing system, we are in the process of applying for additional retail operator authorization.”
Spiritleaf has more than 20 potential locations qualified for provincial licensing in Ontario and is projected to open up to 30 spaces in the province by the end of 2020. The launch of ‘Cannabis 2.0.’ products broaden the portfolio offerings for existing customers and provide ready-made options for new consumers, with updates expected in multiple markets throughout the year.
