Restaurant-franchise system Subway donated 150,000 meals to Feed Ontario (formerly known as the Ontario Association of Food Banks) through its Make Someone’s Day with Sub of the Day event.

The campaign which ran from February 25 to April 28 had restaurants across Ontario donate one meal to Feed Ontario for every 10 ‘Sub of the Day’ purchases. The three-year annual campaign raised more than 419,700 meals for families in need.

“On behalf of Feed Ontario and the provincial food bank network, we would like to thank Subway restaurants for their generous and ongoing support,” said Food Ontario’s chair of board of directors Michael Maidment. “The funds raised through this campaign will directly impact the communities in which they were raised and go a long way in ensuring food bank shelves remain full of nutritious food, particularly during the upcoming summer months.”

“With more than half a million adults, children, and seniors accessing food banks in Ontario each year, we rely on the support of community partners to help families have access tonutritious food when they visit our programs and services,” added Maidment. “We are grateful for our partnership with Subway and for the ongoing support it provides to local communities with families suffering from hunger.”
