Food-service franchise system Subway Canada now offers Beyond Meatball Marinara sandwiches.
The plant-based 22-g (0.7-oz) meatball is complemented with marinara sauce, sprinkled with grated parmesan, and topped with shredded mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheese to form the sub. Customers can enjoy the new plant-based meatball in the marinara sub or create their own sandwich with a choice of bread, veggies, and sauces.
For the launch, the restaurant released a video featuring lifestyle expert Martha Stewart, where she shares plant care tips for the meatball. She also discusses her simple eight-week ‘seed-to-sandwich’ guide for gardeners.
“Martha is the perfect partner to announce the nationwide launch of the sandwiches in Canada,” said Subway Canada’s senior marketing director, Cristina Wells. “Her green thumb and culinary prowess made her a natural fit to speak to the cultivation and care that goes into creating the meatball.”
