With the easing of COVID-19-related measures, Subway Canada has announced the reopening of many restaurants across Canada.
As they open their doors, locations are adapting to meet the needs of the communities they serve with new and enhanced health and safety measures, expanded ordering options, and a new value menu.
To help protect the well-being of its franchise owners, employees and, guests, Subway Franchise Systems has developed new health and safety rules and guidelines to be implemented in every Subway restaurant across Canada, including:
- Enhanced cleaning procedures, such as hourly restaurant cleanings, especially in high-touch areas such as door handles and credit card terminals;
- Providing employees with masks, installing Plexiglas shields at registers, and implementing social distancing guidelines for guests and employees;
- Conducting wellness checks of restaurant staff at the start of each shift; and
- Reinforced health and food safety standards, like wearing single use gloves when making sandwiches, required handwashing several times throughout each shift, and individually wrapping and sealing all subs.
Subway will also expand on its contactless ordering options with the introduction of curbside pickup. Curbside pickup will be available through the company’s app in select locations across the country in the coming weeks.
Subway has also introduced a new menu of items under $5 at participating locations. The menu offers a selection of options like the Cold Cut Combo, Meatball Marinara, and Veggie Delite six-inch sandwiches as well as the Egg & Bacon English Muffin.
