Franchisees Paul Mailing and Jeff Karp worked with landlord Ivanhoe Cambridge and Navigate Design to develop the kiosk, which features Sweet Jesus’ signature Miami Blue colour scheme and shipping container design elements.
The kiosk sells hand-crafted soft-serve ice cream in flavours such as Cookies Cookies Cookies and Cream, Bangin’ Brownie, Rocky Road Rage, Hella Nutella and Sweet Baby Jesus. It also sells takeaway pints, milkshakes, hot chocolate and cold beverages.
“The initial consumer response has been tremendous, which validates our strategy of developing franchise units in enclosed malls in Canada,” says Jeff Young, chief development officer (CDO) for Sweet Jesus’ franchisor, Monarch and Misfits. “Positioning the brand in malls takes advantage of built-in traffic with an impulse purchase item and smooths out the sales fluctuations of a seasonal product.”
