Harvey’s has signed on as a sponsor of the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA).
The partnership commenced at the Canadian leg of the Secret Dream Gap Tour in Calgary, Alba., which took place from May 24 to 30, and will aim to increase awareness and support for women’s hockey throughout Canada.
“Harvey’s is proud to support the PWHPA who align with our brand values of celebrating diversity and inclusion on and off the ice,” said Chelsea Kellock, senior director of marketing, Harvey’s Canada. “The PWHPA players are not only athletes, they are role models to girls across the country who aspire to be professional hockey players. Making hockey inclusive and accessible is imperative for all players of this game, regardless of background or gender.”
Comprised of approximately 125 of the world’s best women hockey players, the PWHPA was formed to advance equity, fairness, and opportunity in women’s professional hockey. Specifically, the group is working to provide increased opportunity in the sport with the goal of creating a sustainable league that pays a living wage to players, provides elite-level resources (i.e. ice time, facilities, trainers, etc.) and invests in marketing that showcases the players and game.
“Sponsors like Harvey’s make it possible for our players to receive the recognition they have worked so hard for their whole life,” said Jayna Hefford, operations consultant, PWHPA. “The PWHPA is proud to have Harvey’s on our team, promoting the entertainment of women’s hockey and to encourage young girls across Canada to go after their goals.”
