International Workplace Group (IWG) has launched its franchise program in Canada which provides a unique opportunity for franchisees to enter the flexible workspace industry.
In recent years, flexible workspace—also known as co-working—has become a high-growth industry.
“Imagine being given the chance to work with successful franchise concepts, like restaurants or gyms, at the beginning of their growth explosions,” says the company’s director of franchise development, Steven McAnulty. “A similar or even larger opportunity awaits in the serviced office market. It’s a great opportunity to diversify from traditional franchisees, and benefit from a significant return on investment (ROI).”
As part of the program, IWG offers comprehensive infrastructure to support franchisees in Canada throughout the life cycle of their investment. The global IWG franchise team works closely with its franchisees to ensure they have a framework to find the right location, design, and are able to grow their market footprint, with operational and marketing support.
Franchisees play a crucial role in IWG’s growth by bringing flexible workspaces to more communities countrywide and are responsible for acquiring or leasing space in highly desirable locations. IWG will assist in building the flexible workspace according to branding guidelines. Once the workspace is fully functional, franchisees will manage a staff of one to two employees per workspace who are responsible for the daily activity, driving occupancy, and customer retention.
Since its founding in 1989, IWG has successfully operated flexible workspaces. With brands like Regus and Spaces, IWG has a network of over 3300 centres in more than 1100 cities and 120 countries.
“Three in 10 buildings on every high street around the world could offer a new franchise opportunity in the coming years,” says IWG Canada and Latin America’s CEO Wayne Berger. “The serviced office industry is one of the most exciting growth markets in the world, and the next frontier for franchise operators. We are excited to partner with new owners to bring the many benefits of flexible working to more people and businesses countrywide.”
The company is seeking qualified franchise partners with organizational and financial capabilities to open a minimum of five locations no smaller than 929 m2 (10,000 sf) over a two- to-three-year period.
