Children across Canada will have increased access to mentorship programs, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Boston Pizza franchisees.
The restaurant chain’s annual Kids Card promotion, which ran Aug. 20 through Sept. 30, raised more than $1.2 million for the Boston Pizza Future Prospects Foundation, surpassing its fundraising goal by more than $23,000. The group supports community organizations that help kids-in-need, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kids Help Phone, Live Different, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), and the Rick Hansen Foundation.
“For every $5-Kids Card sold, franchisees donate the cost of five free kids’ meals,” says Michelle Schepel, Boston Pizza Foundation’s interim executive director. “With thousands of cards sold each year, this means our franchise owners have collectively donated millions of dollars of their own money to help ensure children in their communities get the inspiration and guidance they need to succeed.”
Since its conception, the foundation has raised more than $27 million.
