In 2012, Lauck made a bet with his corporate staff that he would have his head shaved if they exceeded their fundraising goal of $290 million for the year. He followed through last week with a haircut from Great Clips stylist Juliana Lindsay, as they had raised a record-breaking $300 million.
“A shaved head is the least I can do to honour the hard work my team has put forth,” he says. “I’m looking forward to our staff’s reaction. And a new look.”
Great Clips has supported CMNH by raising approximately $500,000 in 2012 through selling paper miracle balloons and hosting events such as cut-a-thons and bake sales. The franchise system’s stylists also donated their own time by visiting member hospitals to cut children’s hair.
“We are proud to support CMNH,” says Rhoda Olsen, Great Clips CEO. “Our stylists, owners, customers and corporate staff have raised more than $2.5 million to support the hospitals since 2005.”
