Bakery franchisor Cobs Bread opened its 19th Ontario bakery on July 6 in Waterloo, Ont., and broke its opening week record with sales of $33,021.
To kick off the opening, franchisee Stephanie Steers and her team hosted a ‘Community Day,’ a Cobs Bread ritual, to introduce themselves to their new neighbourhood. They made $4,300 in sales and donated the sum to a local charity, KidsAbility, which provides therapy and support services to children with special needs throughout the Waterloo Region.
“I started looking at franchise opportunities just over a year ago and came across Cobs Bread,” says Steers. “I looked online, liked what I saw and then drove an hour to visit the nearest location in Burlington, Ont. I purchased a cross-section of products to try and just loved them. I couldn’t be happier with the resounding support of the Waterloo community and my incredible team.”
“Ontario is a key strategic market for us and this record-setting opening, combined with strong same-store sales growth in the region, is promising for further development,” says Brad Bissonnette, vice-president (VP) of marketing and franchise recruitment for Cobs Bread.
Cobs Bread currently has 97 bakeries across Canada.
