Country Style celebrates 50 years of franchise success

croppedThis year marks Country Style’s 50th anniversary in the Canadian franchising business.

The company was founded by Alan Lowe in 1962 and the first franchise opened in Toronto in 1963. Today, Country Style has more than 500 franchise locations across Ontario and the Maritimes.

“We are thrilled to be able to celebrate, with our customers, 50 years in the business,” says Rita McParland, vice-president (VP) of marketing. “We are proud to be Canadian and we have remained steadfast and true to our core principles. We offer a quality blend of coffee that is freshly ground on-site and fresh baked goods and we continue to innovate in the breakfast sandwich category.”

The original brand was Country Style Donuts. At the time, donuts represented 48 per cent of the business. In the 1990s, the company dropped “donuts” from the name.

Today, coffee is the franchise system’s main seller and the menu has been expanded to include:
● breakfast sandwiches;
● baked goods;
● oatmeal;
● smoothies; and
● deli sandwiches.

To thank customers for their continued business, Country Style gave out free coffee on March 25.
