‘Dragon with a Heart’ helps launch Global Pet Foods fundraising campaign

PrintGlobal Pet Foods’ annual Show Us Your Heart fundraising campaign has new support this year from entrepreneur W. Brett Wilson of CBC’s Dragon’s Den.

Wilson is joining the pet food and supply franchise system, along with pet food company Natural Balance, to promote the campaign and raise funds for pet shelters across Canada.

“Pets have always been a big part of my life,” he says. “Animals don’t have anyone to speak for them, so we have to step up.”

From January 31 to February 14, Global Pet Foods and Natural Balance will ask for minimum $1 donations from customers both in-store and online. They will match the first dollar of each donation made in-store and all proceeds will go to local pet shelters and related groups.

“Small donations add up and make a big difference to smaller community-based groups that can use the funds to cover expenses for veterinarian care, buy food or just keep the lights on,” says Jim Walker, president of Global Pet Foods.

Show Us Your Heart has raised $800,000 since its inception in 2006. This year, the goal is to raise at least $200,000 to reach $1 million in total.
