With a minimum $5 donation (going directly to the foundation), customers received a pair of pink Sanük Ibiza sandals. The flip flops came with a card attached, so they could give them to friends or family members, encouraging them to get checked for early signs of cancer.
“We have all been impacted by breast cancer either directly or through close family and friends,” says Doug Kingston, the store’s Canada master franchisee. “By partnering with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, we’re hoping to spread awareness and encourage consumers to maintain regular check-ups.”
Flip Flop Shops franchises that participated included:
● Calgary and Edmonton (Alberta);
● Coquitlam, Nanaimo, Kelowna and Vancouver (British Columbia); and
● Saskatoon (Saskatchewan).
Breast cancer will affect one in nine Canadian women during their lifetime. The Canadian Cancer Society estimates nearly 23,000 women and 200 men throughout the country will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
