Originally from India, Barry Anand immigrated to the U.S. in 1974, then moved to British Columbia 2 years ago. He is now in his mid-60s and has had a long career in accounting in both the U.S. and Canada, but decided to buy a franchise because he enjoys the restaurant industry.
“I wanted to make a change,” he says. “Quesada’s freshness, flavour and competitive start-up costs worked for me. There is definitely a more health-conscious consumer here and so far, we are busy.”
Anand says it has been a challenge starting a new career later in life, but he is embracing it because he is a fan of Quesada’s Mexican food. His restaurant is in a historical building on Yates Street. It began operations in early April, but will hold its official grand opening in May.
