Running from January 31 to February 14, the campaign—run jointly with Natural Balance Pet Foods—raised $230,000 after matching all in-store donations dollar for dollar. This brought Global Pet Foods’ overall donation total to $1 million since Show Us Your Heart’s inception. Year after year, the two companies raise money for local animal shelters and pet rescue groups across Canada and finally reached their fundraising goal.
“Once again, our customers have shown the size of their hearts through their donations and support,” says Jim Walker, president of Global Pet Foods. “We saw a 16 per cent increase in donations over last year. This was truly a landmark year.”
Donations help homeless pets like Hudson (pictured), a Saint Bernard who was diagnosed with heartworm after being rescued by Animal Angel Rescue Foundation (AARF). Thanks to the campaign, AARF will cover his treatment and veterinary bills until he finds a home.
