Home Instead Senior Care has opened a new franchise in Toronto, serving the North York and Scarborough regions and neighbouring Markham, Ont.
Owned by franchisee Kelvin Li, the office provides non-medical in-home care to seniors for up to 24 hours per day. Caregivers, who are screened, trained and insured and have a clean criminal background check, provide companionship and help with personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders and errands.
“Our mission is clear,” says Li. “We help seniors stay in their homes for as long as possible and we provide respite care for overworked family members.”
According to Statistics Canada, 16.9 per cent of Canada’s population is over 65 years of age and the number continues to grow, showing a growing need for more elder care.
