At the age of 19, Alicia Baker of Little Bay East, N.L., began working as a medical esthetician at DermaEnvy Skincare’s Halifax clinic after completing her medical esthetics training in Ontario.
Now, two years later, after refining her skills, building confidence, and working independently in the clinic, Baker found personal success and realized owning her franchise might be a dream within reach.
DermaEnvy Skincare, a laser, skincare, and medical esthetics franchise is continuing its national expansion with the opening of the brand’s seventh location in St John’s, owned by Baker.
“Something struck a chord inside me to take my knowledge and management skills and move home to Newfoundland to do it all over again, but this time as the sole owner and operator,” said Baker on her recent relocation to St John’s.
Through the support and guidance of her employer-turned-franchisor, Cohen MacInnis, president of Wellness Brands Canada Inc., she was able to turn this idea into a reality.
“While sad to see her move on from our Halifax clinic, I’m excited and proud of her for the hard work and determination demonstrated to achieve this, and her choice to remain part of Team DermaEnvy,” said MacInnis.
“What I love most about the brand is our team and their ability to constantly change and keep up to date. If you’re familiar with the medical esthetics industry, you’ll know there are always new trends, technologies, and treatments on the rise,” said Baker.
The micro clinic concept at DermaEnvy Skincare offers clients small, private, and inclusive clinical environments for clients seeking professional skincare treatments.
“My clients love that each time they visit, they speak to and are treated by the same professional, never having to worry about becoming comfortable with a different technician at each appointment,” said Baker.
