The food-service franchise system was honoured at a year-end award ceremony with the prestigious Pinnacle Award, recognizing its successful growth. In the last six years, Pizza Pizza has opened 20 restaurants in Quebec, nine in Manitoba, three in Saskatchewan and four in Nova Scotia. Today, including its Pizza 73 restaurants and non-traditional sites, Pizza Pizza has a network of more than 700 locations coast to coast.
The franchisor also impressed judges with product innovations, technological advancements, marketing and support for communities, franchisees and staff. Some of these recent developments include a hybrid loyalty and gift card, mobile apps, the expansion of the Devices for Slices Earth Month campaign (which collects unwanted electronic devices for recycling on behalf of Food Banks Canada) and raising more than $1.5 million for children’s charities through the Slices for Smiles Foundation.
“We work hard to lead our segment and to support the growth of our entire network and the communities we serve,” says Pat Finelli, Pizza Pizza’s chief marketing officer (CMO). “That includes our franchisees, suppliers, sports teams and community events we sponsor, as well as our customers. The entire team is honoured by this recognition, especially since it comes from our own industry.”
