Walk This Way is a unique program promoting physical activity and learning by encouraging young people to explore on foot. It began when BGC of Ottawa volunteer Gavin Lumsden was looking for a way to get kids active while teaching them about their communities. He designed the program to take participants on long walks to surrounding points of interest. After the event’s success in Ottawa, Lumsden started raising money to make it a national event.
Along with its restaurants serving as starting points for the walks, Quesada is donating one dollar from every burrito sold on Oct. 18 to support the further expansion of the event across Canada.
“Thanks to the hard work of Gavin and the support of Quesada, we will now be able to ensure even more young people get to know their cities while learning the benefits of a healthy lifestyle,” says Owen Charters, CEO of BGC of Canada.
“We’re thrilled and honoured to support BGC and we feel Quesada customers will be equally as enthusiastic about supporting healthy, happy lifestyles among Canadian youth,” says Quesada’s CEO, Steve Gill.
