Shoppers Drug Mart franchise takes over Toronto’s Hard Rock Café

Franchisee Andrew Yeh has opened a new Shoppers Drug Mart store at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, with a design that pays homage to the history and music of the space once occupied by the Hard Rock Café and Friar’s Tavern.

Yeh (pictured below) has worked as a pharmacist in the area for 10 years. In addition to the new store’s full-service pharmacy, he offers a ‘digital pharmacy,’ whereby customers can manage their prescriptions online. Compliance pack services also enable medications to be better-organized by date and dosage time.

The building’s artifacts and memorabilia, meanwhile, are showcased alongside an interactive timeline, with historic highlights coming to life through photos and video.

“We are honoured to bring an enhanced shopping experience to the heart of the city while preserving one of its most beloved landmarks,” says Anthony Spina, senior vice-president (SVP) of operations for Shoppers Drug Mart.
