St. Louis Bar & Grill is raising funds during Autism Awareness Month at its restaurants across the country.

“What started out as something small to support an employee whose son has autism has grown into a national effort across all of our restaurants,” said Brent Poulton, president, St. Louis Bar & Grill. “Today, each and every one of our franchisees are actively involved in helping raise awareness of autism and funds, with many restaurants going the extra mile with community fundraising events.”

Throughout October, the chain’s 75 restaurants across Canada will donate 50 cents from every Labatt pint sold. Each location will also be selling St. Louis coupon cards for $5 with the value equalling to more than $30 in savings for guests. In November, an online auction to raise more funds for the Shining Through Centre will also be hosted.

“One in 66 Canadian children have an autism diagnosis which means many of our employees or guests are either directly or indirectly affected,” said Poulton. “We feel there’s a real need to grow acceptance and understanding of the diagnosis affecting so many, as well as do what we can to help with educational programs for children through fundraising.”

Each year, St. Louis Bar & Grill hosts annual events and fundraising activities at a corporate and restaurant level, last year raising $400,000. To date, the casual dining restaurant chain has raised more than $2 million in support of Shining Through Centre, a leader in the field of autism, providing service in therapy, education, research, and awareness to affected children and their families. Through its work the Centre provides therapeutic and educational programs to each child.
