Tim Hortons’ community-oriented Timbits house-league soccer program for children ages four to nine has more than 230,000 participants this year.
To celebrate the new season, Tim Hortons launched a YouTube video series called Timbits Talks, featuring conversations between program participants and professional athletes. The first video features Toronto Football Club’s (TFC’s) midfielder Jonathan Osorio (pictured with program participant Ben.)
“Making a positive impact in the communities where our franchisees are located continues to be a top priority for us,” says Tim Hortons president David Clanachan. “We launched the Timbits Minor Sports Program in 1982 and because of our dedicated franchisees, soccer club representatives and parents of participants, this program continues to grow each year. The goals of all our minor sports programs are to have fun and to encourage activity for youth, both mentally and physically.”
Since 2007, more than 1.9 million children have participated in Timbits soccer. Each player gets a jersey, socks, a soccer ball and a participant medal.
