Food-service system Wetzel’s Pretzels, which currently has two Canadian franchises in the West Edmonton Mall, has signed an agreement with franchisee Cory Reddekopp to open eight more locations in Alberta and British Columbia.
The locations will offer a full line of pretzels, Wetzel Dogs, Bitz and fresh lemonade. The chain’s pretzels are baked from scratch with simple ingredients, including flour, filtered water, yeast and a dash of salt.
Reddekopp, who hopes to open his first two stores by the end of the year, is seeking operating partners to further expand the brand across the country.
“I believe the opportunity to grow the Wetzel’s brand in Canada is tremendous and far exceeds the initial eight stores I plan to open,” he says. “The brand’s various buildout options provide us countless opportunities to expand, regardless of square footage, while still delivering the hot-and-fresh pretzels customers love.”
“We are continuously partnering with motivated, growth-oriented franchisees,” says Doug Flaig, vice-president (VP) of franchise development for Wetzel’s. “We have a fantastic portfolio concept for seasoned multi-unit franchisees with other brands.”
