To celebrate the 20th birthday of the McFlurry, fast-food franchise system McDonald’s Canada simulated an actual flurry over a restaurant in the dessert’s birthplace, Bathurst, N.B. The team at McDonald’s Canada made an artificial snowstorm while they gave away free red velvet and Oreo McFlurries.
McDonald’s hired more than 6,700 employees across Canada during its recruitment blitz on April 15. The fast-food chain surpassed its 2015 target by 246 people as it hired 6,746 full- and part-time staff and management.
McDonald’s Canada is now bringing its packaged McCafé coffee to the shelves of major grocery stores across the country. The new product line, representing a partnership with Kraft Canada, includes ground coffee and single-serve formats compatible with both Tassimo and Keurig machines.
The newest McDonald’s Canada franchise, which opened in downtown Toronto on November 26, is also the biggest in Ontario. Showcasing the franchisor’s most recent design features, the nearly 9,000-square-foot restaurant is located near Yonge and Elm Streets.
For the first time, McDonald’s Canada front-line employees were able to securely wear poppies for Remembrance Day, thanks to the new silicone pin-holders. In the past, supporting Canada’s veterans with poppies has been a challenge for the food-service industry, due to the safety risk of straight pins.
